Summer Intensive is a special opportunity for dancers to channel their extra energy into dance. In my experience, dancers progress so much during S.I. because their bodies are in excellent condition at the end of a full year of classes, and because they are able to focus exclusively on dance. It is amazing to watch them blossom!
Participating in S.I. enables a dancer to step up to a new level, especially 11 year olds who are ready to go on pointe, because the instructors are able to spend more time with them as they get accustomed to using their pointe shoes.
Another fun part of Summer Intensive is teaching our dancers Variations from classic ballets. Dancers and instructors alike enjoy having such large blocks of time to learn these intricate, traditional ballet dances.
