Irish Step Dance Teacher
Maggie Corrigan, is the TCRG-teacher,
and director for Baile Glas Irish Dancers. Her
grandparents immigrated to Seattle from Donegal,
Ireland, and many traditions were celebrated at family
parties including Irish dancing. As a student she took
step dancing classes with the Commins School, CailAine,
and Maureen Keane. Later, as a teaching assistant, she
worked with several visiting master teachers, and in
1990, she was a founding member of the Baile Glas Irish
Dancers.
Maggie Corrigan received her TCRG
(teaching certification) from An Coimisiun Le Rinci
Gaelacha, Dubin Ireland in 1998. This credential
assures both a high standard in teaching, and helps
preserve the step dance style by encouraging dancers to
participate in competitions. The Emerald City Feis, a
local competition, is co-hosted annually by Baile Glas
Irish Dancers, and Tara Academy. (emeraldcityfeis.com)
Maggie Corrigan also directs and
choreographs her students in Irish dancing
presentations. Baile Glas has over 16 community
appearances each year, in addition to Irish Week
celebrations, and St. Patrick's Day holiday events.
